APPLICATIONS OF AUTOMATION IN MANUFACTURE PROCESESS
We refer to automation as a big systems variety and/ or
processes that operate with almost any man intervention, in some cases almost null.
An automated system adjusts its operations in answer to
changes in the external conditions in three stages such us: measurement,
evaluation, and control.
This technology includes
- - Automatic tools to process parts.
- - Automatic montage machines.
- - Industrial robots.
- - Automatic material handling and storage systems.
- - Automatic inspection for quality control
- - Re-using control and computer controlled
process.
- - Computer systems to plan data collecting and decisions
taking to support manufacturing activities.
Kinds of automation
Fixed automation
Is utilized when the production volume
is very high, and thus, the specialized equipment high design cost can be
justified economically to process the product with high performance and high production
rates. A possible inconvenient of fixed automation is its life cycle that goes
according to the product validity in the market.
Programmable automation
It’s employed when the production
volume is relatively low, and there is a production diversity to obtain. In this
case the production equipment is designed to adapt to the configuration
variations of the product; this adaptation is realized by a software.
Flexible automation
Is the most adequate for a medium
production range. This systems possess fixed automation characteristics and
from programmed automation. The flexible systems are usually constituted by a
series of work stations interconnected between themselves by storage systems
and material manipulations systems, controlling its group by a computer.
